Beautiful art of healing

Are you looking for a natural and holistic approach to health and wellness? Naturopathy may be just what you need.
Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on using natural remedies and therapies to promote healing and balance in the body. At the heart of naturopathic medicine is the belief that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, and that by supporting the body’s natural healing processes, we can promote optimal health and well-being.
Naturopathy practitioners use a variety of techniques and therapies to address a wide range of health concerns, from chronic pain and digestive issues to stress and anxiety. One of the key principles of naturopathy is the importance of treating the whole person – not just their symptoms.
This means taking into account a person’s physical, emotional, and spiritual health, as well as their lifestyle and environmental factors, when developing a treatment plan.
By addressing the root causes of health issues and supporting the body’s natural healing processes, naturopathy can help to promote long-lasting health and wellness.

Functional medicine tests we offer

Gastrointestinal testing

If you’re struggling with gut problems, this comprehensive stool test checks the large intestines for good and bad bacteria, unwanted organisms, mucus, and yeast. Additionally, it can also detect how well you digest your food. Checking inside the large intestine also tests your immune system response.

What you can expect to be checked by this test:

  • Microbiome health – find good bacteria and harmful bacteria
  • Unwanted organisms – yeast, worms, and parasites
  • Digestion quality – carbohydrate digestion problems, pancreatic insufficiency, leaky gut
  • Immune status – immunity imbalance
  • and more…

SIBO

Gas and bloating can be linked to bacterial overgrowth in the small intestines, explaining many overlapping IBS symptoms.

When the wrong bacteria ends up in the wrong place, it causes a quick fermentation which causes pain, gas, and bloating.

Nutristat

Venous blood draw Nutristat is an advanced functional assessment to provide a detailed estimate of nutritional status, metabolic function, toxic metals, oxidative stress, methylation cofactors, neurotransmitter metabolism, and microbial metabolism.

It is particularly useful for individuals experiencing fatigue, low energy, poor recovery, metabolic or digestive concerns, or other chronic health issues.

DUTCH hormonal test

Dutch stands for Dry Urinary Test for Comprehensive Hormones. By collecting urine 4 to 5 times and additional saliva collection, we gain insight into the hormonal profile which can be missed by blood tests.

By using this test we can gain insight into hormonal and metabolic health.

It also examines the hormonal profile of progesterone and testosterone, and the metabolic pathways of estrogen, along with the adrenal profile: DHEAs, cortisol, cortisone, melatonine, and other markers for oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and the nine organic acid markers. This test offers a more comprehensive scope than regular blood or saliva tests. In addition, we can also add cycle mapping to check symptomatic hormone shifts during your cycle.

DAO

Venus Blood Draw. Diamine Oxidase (DAO) is an enzyme that helps break down histamine in the intestine. Intestinal inflammation or damage, genetic differences, or use of some standard treatments can impact DAO levels. Low DAO activity can increase the risk of histamine intolerance or allergic reactions.

OAT

The Organic Acid Test analyses urinary metabolites to reveal insights into metabolic function and nutrient deficiencies, which may be the cause of different chronic illnesses or metabolic disturbances.

Cyrex Serum Arrays

This venous blood test is used to evaluate immune reactivity associated with different autoimmune conditions where chemical immune burden may be a contributing factor to overall biotoxin and immune load, which can promote inflammatory and neuro-inflammatory cascades/responses.

The measurement of specific antibody reactions to selected antigens helps to identify patterns of immune activation and provides additional insight into immune dysregulation.

WomensKEY Complete

Urine assessment to provide valuable insight into chronic urinary infection UTIs, Bacterial Vaginosis BV, reproductive system infection, and yeast overgrowth, including cases that may be persistent or resistant to standard treatment.

Wellness Male

Venous blood draw. Assesses male vital organs, hormones, and stress. It evaluates sexual health, energy, stress, prostate health, and thyroid, liver, and immune function.

Intolerance Allergy Test

Venous Blood Draw or Finger Prick. The P88 dietary antigen test measures IgE, IgG, IgG4, and complement (C3d) responses to 88 commonly consumed foods, providing insight into systematic gastrointestinal symptoms as well as potential food-related immune reactivity.

Naturopathic philosophy – nature law of cure

Some of the therapies commonly used in naturopathy include:

  • Herbal medicine: the use of plants and plant-based remedies to promote healing and balance in the body.
  • Nutrition counselling: the use of dietary changes and supplements to support optimal health and address specific health concerns.
  • Acupuncture: a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the use of needles to stimulate specific points on the body, promoting balance and healing.
  • Homeopathy: the use of highly diluted substances to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.
  • Lifestyle counselling: the use of education and coaching to help clients make positive changes in their lifestyle habits and environment.

If you are interested in exploring the benefits of naturopathic medicine for yourself, we invite you to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced practitioners. We will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and concerns, and supports your journey towards optimal health and wellness. With naturopathy, you can enjoy improved energy, reduced stress, better digestion, and overall greater health and vitality.

Wholeness vs Part Components
The naturopathic view is that the whole is greater than the sum of impaired parts. Mending the broken part will not necessarily have beneficial influence on the whole; however, if the whole is treated, the parts will often mend themselves.

Uniqueness vs Generalisation
The individual is unique; each person responds differently to health disorders. That is, individuals experience life’s challenges in their own ways, and manifest health symptoms differently. While similarities can exist, each of us has a unique way of growing, living, and thinking.

Acceptance vs Suppression
Ailments should not be supressed. Manifested health symptoms are there for a reason: they are signals of the Natural healing force. For example, if we take a rusted car out of the rain and into shelter, the corrosion will not disappear; it will slow down but continue to spread to other parts of the car. Similarly, if we paint over mould on the wall, the mould will be out of view for a while, but it will come back and likely it will come worse than before.
If the root cause is left untreated, it can resurface even years later again as a more serious health concern. Therefore, it is important to investigate the root cause of symptoms, rather than just focusing on symptoms alone.

Prevention vs Cure
Prevention is superior to cure. Prevention is everyone’s responsibility. A common analogy is that when babies learn to crawl, it is better to prevent accidents than to cure the resulting injuries. Likewise, when rainy days are here, it is better to drive slowly (even at the risk of being late), than to cause a car accident. Health prevention works with the same law of avoidance, to achieve and maintain balance before the body signals that there is a problem.
